How were these apps selected?
We selected four different jobs a judoka might need help with, then checked the providers’ public descriptions on 12 September 2026. Judokai and JudoTV were checked in the US App Store; Athlete Analyzer through its product and help pages; Judo AI through its public website and Web-owned feature copy. We did not install every app, measure analysis accuracy or compare subscription transactions. This is a source-based selection guide, not a hands-on test.
The site is operated by Judo AI. We explain where our own product may fit and where another kind of tool is more relevant. There is no numbered winner, fabricated score or federation endorsement. Store features, availability and purchase terms can change; check the listing for your country and device before deciding.
Start with the question left after practice
Suppose you finish randori thinking, “I could not enter my throw.” A demonstration library may help you revisit the movement, but it cannot establish why your particular attack failed. A clip may show an obstructed grip or a late entry, but a cropped view may leave that uncertain. Your coach’s observation, your account and an AI suggestion are different kinds of information. First decide what you need to recover or understand.
If you forget corrections, prioritize a usable record. If you cannot remember a technique’s name or sequence, look for a reference. If you want to see how elite judoka create opportunities, look for contest footage. If your coach wants to compare tagged exchanges across matches, look for an analysis workflow you can share. One product need not do every job.
Judo AI: Training Coach — reflection connected to a plan
Our public product page describes practice logs, video feedback, AI questions and planning in an iPhone app. We recommend considering Judo AI when these pieces are scattered: the coach’s comment is in one note, the clip is in your camera roll, and the next practice question has been forgotten. The intended value is continuity between sessions, not replacing the person who watches you practise.
An illustrative starting point is a note saying which grip you had, what you attempted, what the partner did and what your coach actually said. Ask the AI to help organize the unresolved question, rather than declaring a cause from the result alone. Bring the suggestion back to your coach before changing a technical task. This example is an editorial workflow, not a claim that we measured an improvement in users.

Judokai — a reference for demonstrations
Judokai’s listing describes multi-angle demonstrations, kata, bookmarks and offline videos. Its role in this selection is revisiting technical material. For example, after a lesson you may want to locate the demonstrated waza and return to the same movement before asking your teacher about a detail. That is a different need from explaining the outcome of your own contested exchange.
Keep the reference connected to the lesson’s conditions. Was the movement shown cooperatively, from a particular grip, or within kata? Do not silently treat those conditions as identical to free randori. Write down the detail you want clarified rather than trying a newly seen action unsupervised. Coverage of Kodokan techniques does not by itself mean an app is published or endorsed by Kodokan.

JudoTV — watching competition in context
The IJF presents JudoTV as its streaming and on-demand viewing platform. It is the relevant category when you want competition footage and commentary rather than a personal training record. Choose a question before viewing: what happened before an attack, how did the opponent respond, and what followed? A full exchange can offer more context than a highlight showing only the finish.
This is an observation example, not a claim that copying an elite sequence will work for you. Athletes differ in experience, physical capacities and available options. If a hand is hidden, mark it as unseen; if you are discussing a ruling, consult the applicable rules rather than treating your interpretation as official. Check what your viewing entitlement actually includes instead of assuming every event is accessible.
Athlete Analyzer — structured work with a coach
Athlete Analyzer describes video tagging, a training diary and planning tools. Its judo help documentation also explains opponent views and clip notes, including discussion in the team version. Consider this category when you and your coach need an organized way to revisit selected exchanges and compare observations, rather than a single quick answer after practice.
Agree what a tag means before counting it. An attempted attack, a scoring attack and an exchange starting from your preferred grip are not interchangeable events. Missing footage and inconsistent tagging can make a chart misleading. Ask who will do the tagging, who will review the notes and whether that effort fits the actual coaching routine. We have not tested its analysis against Judo AI or established that either produces better results.

A practical choice: the same failed attack, different needs
Imagine a fictional judoka who repeatedly remembers only “seoi-nage did not work.” If the missing piece is the name or demonstrated movement, start with reference material. If there is a clip, review the entry and the visible response with the coach. If the next question gets lost between sessions, a log-and-planning tool may be the useful addition. These are different bottlenecks, not successive compulsory purchases.
A simple note could contain the starting situation, the attempted action, the partner’s response, the coach’s observation and the next thing to check. Leave unknowns blank or mark them unknown. Do not replace “I could not see the sleeve” with “my sleeve grip was wrong.” The app is useful if it helps preserve those distinctions and recover the note when needed.
What should you check before keeping an app?
Try a familiar, low-risk task rather than judging only a polished screenshot. Can you find the reference you wanted? Can you recover your own note without a lengthy search? If a tool supports sharing, can the intended coach access the relevant item without confusion? Check those tasks using ordinary material you have permission to use, not a sensitive competition archive uploaded just to explore a feature.
Then ask what burden the workflow adds. Re-entering the same training note in several places can make an otherwise attractive setup impractical. A useful trial outcome may simply be that a coach’s correction remained easy to retrieve. It is not proof of improved judo ability, and there is no universal number of sessions after which every reader should see progress.
Check device, language and purchase conditions
A free download is not a promise of free access to every feature. The US listings for Judokai and JudoTV show in-app purchases. We have not made a global price table: currencies, access packages and availability can differ, and our checks do not establish the terms shown on your device. Read the current offer and renewal conditions before accepting anything.
We could not retrieve the full Judo AI App Store description during this review; its public website is the feature source used here. That is a verification limit, not evidence that the product is unavailable. Confirm the exact app, developer, device requirements and interface language in your local store. A translated article on this site does not prove the same language exists in every compared app.

Treat training footage as other people’s information too
A randori clip can identify a partner, a child, a club or a location even when your purpose is only personal review. Before recording, uploading or sharing, follow the dojo’s arrangements and obtain the permissions appropriate to the people involved. Check the selected service’s current privacy and deletion information. This guide did not audit cloud storage, retention or account deletion, so it does not label one option the safest.
Do not assume an App Store privacy label is an independent security test. Keep the first evaluation simple and avoid uploading material you do not have authority to share. When the important question is an injury, safeguarding concern or an official decision, choose the appropriate qualified person or organization; an app comparison cannot settle that question.
A useful next step without another compulsory app
If you only want to read about judo, you do not need an app. Use the glossary, an article or a paper and stop when your question is answered. A paper notebook can also be enough for a short practice record. More digital tools are not automatically better, especially if they take attention away from the lesson or create records you never revisit.
If your actual need is to connect notes, questions and the next plan, review Judo AI’s feature page and its current App Store listing. If it is reference, viewing or coach-led tagging, follow the corresponding source below instead. Keep the choice provisional: retain the tool when it makes the next useful action clearer, not because this publisher placed its own product in the guide.
