Judo AI

About Judo AI

Make each reflection a starting point.

Judo AI brings practice logs, video review, technique organisation and AI discussion together for judoka. Turn what you notice on the mat into a clear focus for your next practice.

Our concept

Our concept

An attack did not work. Another felt right. The same technique changed when you faced a different partner. Judo AI helps you keep those moments and look back at what happened, so you can choose what to explore at your next practice. What matters is not how much you record, but what you take back to the dojo.

Commitment 1: See the situation, not just the technique

Knowing a technique is only part of judo. Grips, distance, posture and your partner’s response all shape an exchange. We look beyond technique names and repetition counts to the situation: how an opportunity appeared, what changed and what you could try next.

Commitment 2: Keep reflection connected and manageable

A quick note after practice or a closer look at a match video: reflection should fit your day. Judo AI brings different ways of reviewing your practice together, so you can start small and go deeper when you need to. Competition, enjoyment and returning to regular practice are all valid reasons to use it.

Why Judo AI began

I wished I had analysed my own judo more logically, so I could have noticed progress and difficulties earlier. That feeling led me to develop Judo AI. I want to make it easier to keep the small observations from practice, revisit them and step onto the mat with a clearer focus.

Meet the developer

Kenta Hata develops Judo AI: Training Coach and operates this site. He placed ninth in the −55 kg category at Japan’s national U15 judo tournament. He studied intelligent mechanical engineering and education, and has practised judo in Malta, Australia, Spain and the Philippines. Drawing on his own judo experience, he builds tools for looking back on practice and deciding what to work on next.

Further information

What Judo AI does

Practice logs

Record what you practised, what worked and what you want to revisit. Keep a small detail from a session while it is still fresh.

Video review

Review practice or match footage and return to the exchange that caught your attention. Look at the grip, entry and response around a technique.

Technique organisation

Keep track of the techniques you are working on and connect them with your practice observations. See which situations you want to explore next.

Questions for AI

Discuss a training question with AI to organise your thoughts and consider another angle. Start with a specific moment rather than a vague request to get better.

Who it is designed for

  • Judoka who want to remember useful observations from each session.
  • Competitors who want to examine an exchange in randori or a match.
  • Recreational or returning judoka who want to keep track of practice at their own pace.

A starting point for your next practice

Start with one note about today’s practice or one video scene you want to revisit. Decide what to pay attention to next time; there is no need to record everything. See the App Store for current features and device compatibility.

How we approach judo information

This site explores judo history, terminology, belt systems and research alongside practical guides. Our editorial principles are to identify official sources and papers, explain their context and distinguish reported findings from interpretation. For rules, we specify the relevant organisation and period; for research, we consider who was studied and the limits of the results. Readers can follow the sources through our research library.

Ownership and editorial approach

This site is operated by the developer of Judo AI and introduces our own app. Our app comparison is not an independent ranking: it explains which uses each tool may suit, with that relationship disclosed. Citing a research paper or an official source does not imply endorsement of Judo AI.

Questions about Judo AI

Does Judo AI replace a coach?

No. AI can make mistakes or miss the context of an exchange, so use it alongside qualified coaching rather than as a replacement. It does not provide medical advice or replace decisions by competition officials.

How much does Judo AI cost?

Current prices and purchase conditions are shown in your regional App Store and on the in-app purchase screen.

How is it different from a general notes or video tool?

Judo AI combines practice notes, video review, technique organisation and AI discussion around judo. It is useful when you want to bring those activities together; for a single task, a notes app or video player may already meet your needs.
